A foreign physiotherapy qualification also changes the application process

‘Recognition is in progress’ is not a clear statement.

For a foreign physiotherapy qualification, it may mean:
The mandatory PreCheck is still underway.
The application has been submitted.
The first decision has been issued.
A compensatory measure remains outstanding.

For a practice, those are four different starting points.

The Swiss Red Cross states that the PreCheck takes a maximum of four weeks with complete documents. The recognition procedure then requires the complete application and a paid invoice. The stated maximum time to the first decision is four months.

That decision may grant direct recognition. It may also require an adaptation programme or an aptitude test.

Practices recruiting internationally should clarify early where the person stands in the process and what support they can offer.

The practice should check with the relevant cantonal authority whether the person may work during the procedure.

Do not only ask:
‘Is recognition underway?’

Ask:
‘Which step is complete, and what is still missing?’

How do you clarify this with applicants today?
